  1. The Southern Africa Flash Flood Guidance System (SARFFG) which uses satellite rainfall and soil moisture to identify areas of possible flooding. The programs needs to be owned and supported by countries by providing high speed internet if we are to derive maximum benefits from it save lives.

  2. These are programs and projects aimed at strengthening the capacity of hydrological services to fulfill the tasks posed to them by society: HWRP, HydroHub, HydroSos.

  3. The project of sub-seasonal to seasonal (S2S) prediction seems very interesting to me to promote and apply in hydrology since it is a forecast scale little studied at the application level. There are currently advances in the synoptic scale (1-10 days) and climatic (60-90 days). The sub-seasonal project covers the gap between both scales and can respond to the demands of users in the 10-60 day scale.

  4. I see a big potential in HydroHub and HydroSOS to help in developing observaitions and services.
From operational projects, FFGS is clearly delivering one.
But in general I see the HWRP as functional and benefitial.

    • Hydrology and Water Resources Programme (HWRP).
    • Disaster Risk Reduction Programme (DRR).
    • Education and Training Programme (Capacity building)
    • Public Weather Services Programme.
